COMPETITION :: Improving London's Cycle Spaces

The Cycle to Cannes charity and the London Cycling Campaign are asking architects, planners and designers to draw up ideas to improve cycle space in London.

The concepts will be put on show in the Transport for London hospitality suite on the Mall during the Freewheel bike ride on September 21 and will be shown to London Mayor Boris Johnson, before being displayed at the Building Centre.

The Cycle to Cannes charity is looking for ideas that people are currently working on or for new ideas on how specific areas can be improved.

It follows the success of the Kensington High Street improvements and the shared space proposals at Exhibition Road. The brief is looking for entrants to shift the dominance of road use away from motor vehicles toward walking and cycling.

Entrants should supply an A3 board with drawings of the concept accompanied by 200-word description. A PDF should also be sent.

Ideas should be sent before September 18 to Cycle to Cannes c/o Wordsearch, 85 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1R 5AR. PDFs can be emailed to info@cycle2cannes.org
