URBANISM :: Richest Urban Areas in 2020

The Financial Times recently published the findings of a study conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) that lists the wealthiest and most affluent urban agglomerations in 2020. According to FT, the research looked at the world's top cities and ranked them by gross domestic product (GDP) using...hold onto your macro-economics texts...purchasing power parity (PPP) exchange rates (the rate that gives you equal buying power in each country).

Six cities from the GaWC (Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network) inventory of alpha world cities that are ranked based upon their provision of advanced producer services such as accountancy, advertising, finance, and law make the list.


The list of the top ten urban agglomerations include:
